Getting grounded on the home stretch

The root chakra.  It’s red, the color of blood, the color of the heart, the color that symbolizes love, passion and home.  home.  Whatever that is.

We are on the cusp of the holiday season when we are expected to be with family and friends, drinking, giving gifts, laughing, cooking, eating and be the perfect princess saying the perfect thing while looking and feeling perfect too.  We know this is not real but we keep it there.  We shoot for the stars, start our engines and burn ourselves out.  Awesome.  So, the alternative is to put the blinders on and fake it – just pretend we can do it all and never let up.  But the thing is, the spirit knows.  As Sean Johnson beautifully shared at a recent seminar, “we are all on a spiritual journey with every moment of our lives whether we want to acknowledge it or not” (paraphrase).  So, what does this mean?  Christians may say Easter is the most spiritual of holidays but I believe Christmas falling days from the end of our year, gives us an opportunity to be truly and honestly sprititual.  We can use this time of year to not look out to what can save us but to look within and see the infinite wisdom that each of us holds.  Within is where true love is. It is where the heart sings with joy and compassion is found.  This, that is found within is a gift that connects our heart to the root of who we are and when this happens, we strengthen our conviction, our beliefs, our love for self and others and we are solidly grounded.  I can’t think of a better  gift to give the universe.
