July First marks the half way point of this year. Where are you with that?

The Sun
Have you ever seen
in your life
more wonderful

than the way the sun,
every evening,
relaxed and easy,
floats toward the horizon

and into the clouds or the hills,
or the rumpled sea,
and is gone–
and how it slides again

out of the blackness,
every morning,
on the other side of the world,
like a red flower

streaming upward on its heavenly oils,
say, on a morning in early summer,
at its perfect imperial distance–
and have you ever felt for anything
such wild love–
do you think there is anywhere, in any language,
a word billowing enough
for the pleasure

that fills you,
as the sun
reaches out,
as it warms you

as you stand there,
or have you too
turned from this world–

or have you too
gone crazy
for power,
for things?
(Mary Oliver)
I have to reflect, I have to challenge myself to know what pain is but not live suffering with the pain. I know that the love for life inside of my body constantly feels like it is on the brink of bursting forward and I want to hug my life. There is pain but why must we feel that we must wallow in it? Why must we feel that despite difficulties, we should be ruled by them? We have a choice to love outward. To know that some things may not look like a blooming rosebud but more like a cable bill, but what that means, is that we’re alive and breathing and that is worth smiling about.
So, it’s the 6-month mark of the year. It may be due to the Earth’s 26,000 year rotation in the Milky Way ramping up to its new path but whatever you think is going on, life has picked up speed for a lot of people. Someone told me at the beginning of the year that this year, if we put our minds toward something, it would happen faster than we ever imaged and the universe has got our backs. I cannot say that is truth but I do know that by placing our thoughts on what is important, our life focuses on those things and they will rise up to meet us. Our finite life is here ready to go, we just have to be tuned into to recognize it. So, at this halfway mark for the year, I invite you to reassess, drink in life and taste it and continue on a path of beauty.
